... so when I turned 12 I think - maybe 13 - I was allowed to get my ears pierced. My sis was living in Shreveport at the time I believe. So, my folks packed me up to send me down to visit and get my ears pierced while I was there. Mind you as I was packing, my dad made sure I was packing a red shirt so the blood wouldn't stain another color (nice huh).
I get to her house and we head to the mall to get my ears pierced. I sit down and the guy says ok - you ready? I'm like sure... I guess. Keep in mind this was like what 1980? Not the fast cool things we pierce with now. I'm convinced he used a hammer and nail - although I'm sure it wasn't. Anyway, he does the first ear and I totally freak! I'm like oh no - we're not doing the other. Maryanne is trying very hard not to crack up and panic at the same time. She knows she can't send me home with just one ear pierced! Somehow she gets me to sit down for the other one. Then he proceeds to give me all the care instructions, etc.
We leave the shop and Maryanne and I are walking through the mall. I keep rubbing my ears. At this point she's laughing cause I was such a baby. I tell her - ya know he said my ears would be ringing for a bit. They aren't ringing but they sure hurt! This totally cracks her up - she tries to explain through her laughter that he said my ears would STING for a bit.
Needless to say - I only have my ears pierced and have never considered another piercing or tattoo ... I obviously don't do well with needles huh!!!
Thanks though for taking me mar... I love you!!
And thanks to Kierstyn for reminding me - although I'm sure if we got the girls involved they'd have all sorts of fun things to add!!

I would be glad to take you to get a tattoo. But I think mom's reaction might be a little worse than if I had let you go home with 1 ear pierced.
Eh Chris got one now ... always counted on him to do something either first or worse to make it easier for me!!
i didn't know he had one. learn something new everyday. but since it would be easy now...jump on in!
