Okay - I haven't posted much lately - maybe after reading this extremely long summary of July thus far you'll understand why!
I know it's only the 13th. But this month has been nuts so far. Had a great 4th of July - had fun at Lauren's then went to UCO for the fireworks. We literally had a front row seat so it was a great view and our hearing is almost recovered I think.
Then that Saturday (which was barely a week ago but seems like forever) we went up to Wichita to see my sister, her girls and grandbabies. Great fun playing and visiting. Again, all good.
Sunday, I decided I really needed to work on my front yard. Got out my new mower - which I totally love. But my yard has been in such terrible shape, I had to mow it twice to get it looking like I wanted. Then I was sitting on the porch recovering I decided that since my weed trimmer was out of string stuff, I'd just use scissors to trim around the mailbox etc. Actually Alex did around the mailbox. I decided I'd see how easy it'd be to edge by my sidewalk. It was pretty easy - so I did the length of the sidewalk with the intention that I'd stop. But then it looked so good and my driveway looked so straggly (made up word - go with it). So, yeah, I ended up going down the length of my drive. About 2/3 down, I realized I not only had developed a blister on my index finger but that it had popped. EEEWWWW!
Anyway, I was too close to stop now. So, I just took that finger out and kept on going. The drive looked beautiful. Unfortunately, I apparently did some sort of nerve damage to my right thumb. A full week later, I still have a numb thumb - not the whole thumb - just the end on the inside. It feels really weird - if I rub it I get the pins and needles sensation that you get when you're foots been asleep and is waking up. But it happens anytime I touch my thumb. It's been odd realizing what I do with the inside of my thumb. Most notably is dial the cell phone and text message.
On Monday, things at work went a bit bonkers. I have a huge project - a website - I'm working on for one of our clients. I had a meeting Mon morn but then spent the remainder of the day Monday, all day Tuesday and Wednesday working from home on this project. I had a lot of the set-up done but I didn't have content for the site until Wednesday. It was CRAZY.
Anyway, as I was getting ready to take Alex to summer camp Wed I noticed that my front tire had a huge split on the side. I wasn't taking any chances so I headed to Hibdon Wed morning. Thank God for my laptop I was able to work for the TWO HOURS it took just to get a new tire and get my alignment done. Anyway, got that done, got back to the house and worked literally all night - like til 5 the next morning.
Presentation was Thursday and everyone loved what I'd gotten done so far. Still have a lot to add but we're in a good spot. I spent the afternoon Thursday and all day Friday at the office trying to catch up on all the things I'd ignored most of the week.
But that's just work - then there's home stuff. I had to be the mean mom and enforce rules that I didn't really want to - but had to. So Thursday night when I was totally exhausted, I spent a good hour trying to explain my reasoning. You can imagine how well that went over. I was exhausted, she was upset - yeah, it wasn't pretty. But in the end it all worked out.
Sarah went over to a friends house for a few hours Friday night. Alex spent the night with Patrick (and thank God for Kimberly, Patrick's mom). I called Kimberly at 6 asking if he could spend the night. Without hesitation she said sure. Amazing lady. Anyway, Sarah and 4 of her friends came back to my house Friday night. It was a long night followed by an early morning. One of Sarah's friends had to go home at 8:30 - so I had to get up to make sure she was up... which she was. Anyway, when she left, I didn't go back to sleep.
Instead, I headed back to my front yard. Well, first I went to Ace for a new weed-whacker, trim and round-up. Mowed twice again (think this will be the last time I have to do it twice though). Finished my part of the yard around 4. Went to go pick up Alex from Patrick's so he could sweep. But he'd been up late and was tired. I didn't feel like hearing it so I just swept it all up (saved me $5 not having to pay him!).
Sarah spent the night at a friends house last night. Alex and I went to bed early. I was sound asleep shortly after 10 - ready for a full solid night sleep. Unfortunately, that wasn't meant to be. At 2:30 am Joe called me. He was driving home from visiting an old friend in Stillwater when his van died. Lisa's car isn't drivable at the moment. So, yep, I got up, put Alex in the car and drove to the 1-35 / hwy 51 junction to get him. Did I mention it was pouring down rain the entire drive there and back? Made for a slow drive, tense at times and very annoying. I got back home around 4:30 totally worn out but also wide awake. By the time I'd settled down enough to even think about laying down it was well after 6 and the sun was up.
Patrick was coming over this morning at 9 so we could go to White Water. I was afraid if I went back to bed I'd not get up for Patrick. So, yeah, I stayed awake. Thankfully the rain brought a cold front. So I convinced the boys that the water was freezing cold, and it only got to high 70s maybe low 80s - so we didn't go. I was able to take a nap for a couple of hours this afternoon.
However, let's recap - had about 3 hours sleep Wednesday night, only 6-7 Thursday, 4 on Friday, 4 Saturday. Yeah, I'm going to bed and if anyone calls me they better be more than just stranded on the side of the road. The question I ask my kids when they interrupt me will apply here: Are you bleeding, on fire or about to throw up? No, then go elsewhere!!
Here's hoping and praying for a solid 9-10 hours of sleep and a much calmer second half of July ... although I'm not counting on that!!

That is a crazy week you've had. I will admit I was getting pretty sick of the weiner dog and it's toe fettish! Hope things settle down to a dull roar.
Didn't know about the tire. Sorry that was added to your already hectic times. Hang in there. Lots of Love PS - I think all the letters below are an eye exam gone nuts! !Love
