7-11 and MDA

Ok - so it's Labor Day weekend - here come those cute firemen in the intersections with their boot. I love these guys. And no, not because I said they're cute. I love watching them all but do a choreographed dance through the intersections - moving with the changing lights so everyone gets to drop in their change! Just like the Salvation Army bell-ringers at Christmas, my kids are well versed in handing over change to the fireman's boot. But hey - they usually get that cool sticker!

Anyway, I digress. I went into 7-11 today to get my required dose of Dr. Pepper. As always the different stores in the area are competing to raise money for MDA. The 7-11 on NW 122nd & May was having a book sale. Now if you've read my blog from earlier in the week - you know I already have a list of books I'm planning to buy. But who can resist 2 books/$1 - and it's for a good cause right?!?!?!

Yeah, I bought 5 books. I think I may have even bought one I've read before, I'm not sure. But since it was only 50 cents - and heck - it's for the kids - I went ahead and bought it anyway. So yeah, a trip to 7-11 that should have been under $1 ended up costing me $4 (I threw my change into their MDA aquarium).

The good news is - I brought my bag o books to my mom's house this evening and she pulled out 2 to read. So, not only do I have the satisfaction of getting books I'll enjoy at a good price for an extremely good cause - I'm making my momma happy ... which is ALWAYS important.

I didn't buy or bring her the sprinkles - just the books. Think the codeine may be getting to her!
