Labor Day Weekend (insanity)

With Labor Day weekend almost here, I sat down with Sarah to see what she hoped could happen this weekend. First, understand that all her girlfriends are spending the night Saturday for a big back to school bash. She wanted someone to spend the night tomorrow night (Friday) as well. I nixed that quickly - but mostly because I won't be here.

Alex is having Patrick spend the night tomorrow night after we go to his Scout "Rain-gutter Reggatta". Please don't ask me what a Rain-gutter Reggatta is - I have no clue! But the boy has his little boat all done - so off we'll go.

So far ... the plan is - scouts with Alex Friday night. Patrick coming home with us to spend Friday night and Saturday morning. Sarah gets to clean the kitchen and her room Friday night so she can have friends over Saturday.

Around noon Saturday, Patrick will be picked up. Sarah and I will go shopping for above-mentioned bash. After shopping and more cleaning - some friend(s) will arrive at or around 4 - with the majority arriving I believe around 6 or 7. We're ordering chinese food to be delivered to feed these hungry teens (and Alex and I). While the said bash is well bashing I guess, Alex and I will hide in my room... me reading (another story about that in a bit) while he plays on my laptop, watches movies or plays online.

Around noon Sunday, all of Sarah's friends leave. More cleaning I'm sure will be required Sunday.

Oh yeah - somewhere on Saturday I must squeeze in an oil change for my car - it's making that "hey, I don't like this stuff you call oil anymore" type sound.

But the best part of all - yeah I love my kids ... a bunch - but hehehehe - Joe will come get the kids around 5 or 6 Sunday afternoon and have them all evening and all day Monday.

So the real conundrum is ... what to do for an entire day with no kids. I have a bunch of books - I can head to Lake Arcadia again and read all day (serious possibility), I can sleep in and goof off around house all day (also quite possible) or I can work and get caught up and ready for the week ahead (yeah, not likely!).

Regardless - my bet is I'll stay up way too late Sunday night, sleep in on Monday and make it to the lake after lunch. But even that sounds wonderful to me at this point!!

So, if you're reading this and
1)know what a rain-gutter reggatta is - please let me know! If not I'll post pictures tomorrow night with an explanation.
2)have any ideas about how to get an oil change in the midst of my schedule let me know.
3)know how to survive a back to school bash with approximately 6 girls feel free to share ideas - but try hard not to giggle and snicker at my insanity!
And 4)have any good ideas of fun things to do on Monday - please share!!

Have a great weekend all!!
