My kids always seem to hate or dread this time of year. They thought me screaming like a nut during the Olympics was bad. But far worse is me curled up quietly with a favorite book. Mostly just because I want them to be quiet.
Anyway - as always seems to happen many of my favorite authors have new releases coming out. Enough to certainly keep me busy through to New Year.
For starters, Alex and I have read both Eragon and Eldest and have been patiently (not) awaiting Brinsingr. It comes out Sept. 20th. I can promise you we will be reading it that night! And it may take us a few months to get through it - but rest assured - by Christmas we'll be ready for more and have to patiently wait ... again ... for the final book 4.
When I'm not reading with Alex, I have the following releases to look forward to:
9/23 - Stuart Woods - Hot Mahogany (may wait for that in paperback)
10/21 - Vince Flynn - Exreme Measures (will be reading that night - and probably finish the next day!
11/4 - David Balducci - Divine Justice (maybe wait - probably not)
11/28 - JD Robb - Innocent in Death (not waiting for no stinking paperback - day after Thanksgiving - eat turkey and read!)
Okay - so technically this list only gets me through Thanksgiving weekend. But my problem is that if I'm visiting the bookstore at least 4 or maybe 5 times between now and then, I'll end up with "bargain books" or see something I haven't read by some random author. Plus, I just found that I've missed several in the "Trouble Shooter" Series by Suzanne - so I'm sure I'll be stocking up on those paperbacks.
Anyway - if any of you have favorite authors that you think I'd enjoy - I really like action/adventure (tom clancy-ish) or mystery - please feel free to let me know who to check out while I'm wandering the isles in the next few months!
Oh - one more thing - my sis-in-law, Leslie, sent me this link to a literacy program "The Big Read". Check it out if you're interested.
Have a good day everyone!!
