My sister-in-law, Leslie, got Alex a simple book for a gift ... which those of you who know Leslie know that this isn't unusual. She is Alex's godmother - so she's loved immensely already. However, one of the best things she has EVER done for Alex was to give him this book... Eragon. We read the first book together - it took us more than four months honestly to get through. We got Book 2 (again from Leslie I believe) - Eldest, and read it together in less than 2 months. Keep in mind these are not small books! Eragon was 500 pages. Eldest was just shy of 700 pages. These books really kick-started him into reading and he has been gung ho ever since. So, thanks Les!!!
Book 3 - Brisingr is released tomorrow ... well technically at midnight tonight. And, yes, we will be there! We're leaving here soon to head to the Books-A-Million store by Quail Springs in about an hour. The release party starts at 10 and ends with sales of the book starting at midnight.
Alex is beyond excited. And well, honestly, yeah, so am I. As I've said many times before I love to read. The biggest challege for me this weekend will be to not read ahead of Alex!
But besides loving the story line - and being impressed by such a young author ... he was 15 when he wrote the first draft of Eragon, my favorite part is spending so much time with Alex. We have so much fun reading together. Sarah of course thinks we're crazy. But that may be in large part to my taking the reading aloud a bit too far. I tend to get into it - so when the books says he yells ... yeah I tend to yell!
Anyway, I'm hoping to be able to take some pictures of Alex tonight at the party and I'll post them tomorrow --- if I don't get too caught up to remember to take pictures!! HEHEHE.....

I assume you and Alex are now at Books-a-Million. I'm sure it is wild and you are both loving it. Have fun, get your book and get home safely. Talk with you tomorrow. Lyb M
